About me
Hi, I'm Laveen,
I am a warm, empathic and genuine natured Counsellor and Psychotherapist, based in South London. I'm deeply passionate about supporting people on their journey toward healing, growth and self-discovery. I strive to create a respectful and non-judgmental space for you to feel comfortable and open in being your authentic self.
I have had the privilege of working in various settings supporting young people, families and professionals, gaining valuable experience and insights along the way.
I worked as a Learning and Teaching Assistant in a large school academy in Putney, supporting neurodivergent students. I created and led a specialized group for Yr7 students, aimed at fostering social skills and interaction, exploring and processing emotions, coping strategies and build self-esteem while addressing challenges such as anxiety, peer relationships, and academic pressures.
This role was incredibly rewarding, allowing me to work collaboratively with both students and teaching staff to help to encourage progress and build on their confidence and ability to express themselves effectively, while also learning about the unique challenges young people face within the education system.
I then went on to join a large charity organization who uses expertise and real-life past experiences to support and empower young people, adults and families whose lives have been impacted by poverty, exploitation and the criminal justice system, working together within multi agencies, offering community-based tailored support.
As, Senior Trauma Caseworker, and then Team Leader, I offered guidance and support to staff members, across several projects, working in partnership with the NHS within the Royal London Trauma Unit supporting 11-25 year old victims and survivors of serious youth violence. Also working collaboratively with Clinical Psychologists, Youth Workers and Community Support Services, to help young people to access appropriate mental health and well-being support.
I have had the opportunity to also facilitate consultation and reflective spaces for professionals working with young people, experiencing complex issues and challenges while promoting a trauma-informed approach.
These experiences have fueled my passion to help others because I believe everyone deserves to feel supported and valued.
I have seen how even a little encouragement, understanding and guidance can make a huge difference in someone's life.
Being a part of someone's journey- whether it's helping them navigate challenges, discover their strengths, find their voice or achieve their goals, gives me a profound sense of purpose.
I believe everyone deserves to feel supported and valued. Having experienced the power of being truly heard and supported during my own challenges, I understand how transformative it can be.
This drives me to offer the same to others, helping them navigate their life struggles and challenges, discover their strengths and achieve personal growth. Knowing the difference this support can make motivates me to be there for others in a way that fosters genuine understanding and meaningful change.
